FibroRes vzw is an independent, nonprofit organization that aims to promote basic, translational and socio-economical research on fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia syndrome is recognized by its core symptom i.e. chronic widespread pain. It is estimated that about two percent of the population is affected by fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. People with fibromyalgia may also have an increased sensitivity to pain, extreme tiredness, muscle stiffness, trouble sleeping, problems with mental processes, problems with memory and concentration, headaches, stomach pain and bloating.The underlying cause of fibromyalgia remains unknown, and as a result, no effective treatment is available.
